Bio

I am a PhD student at the German Sport University Cologne and currently work as a research fellow at the University of Regensburg. Further, I am happy to be an associate researcher @Auckland University of Technology.

I explore new ways to assess human physical activity based on small movement sensors placed on the thigh. I studied Sports and Health Sciences in Cologne, Munich and Copenhagen. I enjoy what I do!

Three things I like:

  • Franzbrötchen and Fritz-Kola.

  • Getting lost in my R and Python code. And finding my way out!

  • Riding my bike and climbing walls.

Things I am currently working on:

  • Exploring a new approach to estimate energy expenditure during physical activity using thigh-worn accelerometers [GitHub].

  • Developing a gait analysis pipeline for thigh-worn accelerometers using Python [on GitHub soon!].

  • Exploring different existing activity classification algorithms using thigh-worn accelerometers [IJBNPA - 2024 | JPAH - 2024].

  • Finishing up with my PhD.
