Bio

I am a PhD student @GSU Cologne, Germany researching new ways to assess human physical activity based on the acceleration of the thigh. I’ve studied sports and health science in Cologne, Munich and Copenhagen. I am currently a visiting researcher at the AUT Human Potential Centre at Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand. I enjoy what I do!

Three things I like:

  • Franzbrötchen and Fritz-Kola.

  • Getting lost in my R and Python code. And finding my way out!

  • Riding my bike and climbing walls.

Stuff I am working on:

  • Validating different existing activity classification algorithms using thigh-worn accelerometers.

  • Training a deep-learning model to detect gait events during walking and running using Keras/Python.

  • Improve my understanding of Te Reo Māori.
