Bio
I am a PhD student at the German Sport University Cologne and currently work as a research fellow at the University of Regensburg. Further, I am happy to be an associate researcher @Auckland University of Technology.
As part of my research, I explore new ways to quantify human movement behaviour using wearable sensors. I apply different analysis methods to small and large scale datasets - such as the German National Cohort (NAKO). I studied Sports and Health Sciences in Cologne, Munich and Copenhagen. I enjoy what I do!
Three things I like:
Franzbrötchen and Fritz-Kola.
Tidy data and getting lost in my R and Python code. And finding my way out!
Riding my bike and climbing walls.
Things I am currently working on:
Exploring new approaches to estimate energy expenditure during physical activity using thigh-worn accelerometers [IJBNPA - 2024 | GitHub].
Developing a gait analysis pipeline for thigh-worn accelerometers [MedRxiv - 2025 | GitHub].
Exploring different existing activity classification algorithms using thigh-worn accelerometers [IJBNPA - 2024 | JPAH - 2024].
Finishing up with my PhD.
